Ms. McKenzie's Rules and Expectations
Classroom Rules
1. Keep a positive attitude and always do your best, even if it’s hard.
2. Listen for directions, then follow them.
3. Respect everyone around you, including their space and personal belongings.
4. Come to class PREPARED:
a) assignment planner
b) pen and pencil
c) highlighter
d) notebook and folder
e) writer’s notebook
e) independent reading novel
Expectations
1. Do your absolute best. (So important I said it twice!)
2. You must let me know if you do not understand something. I can't read your mind! (I wish I could!) I love when students raise their hand in class. You can also see me after class or before school starts from 7:45 – 8:05.
3. Study, study, study for all tests/quizzes.
4. When you are absent, see me to find out what you missed – and make up all work!
6. Work well with others and participate in classroom discussions!
Consequences
If a student chooses not to follow the rules and expectations that choice will be met with consequences:
· Verbal warning
· Loss of privilege
· Parent contact
· After-school detention w/ Mr.B
Grading
Each assignment (homework, projects, quizzes, and tests) will be given a point value.
· Tests are 100 pts (x 2).
· Quizzes will vary based on length and content.
· Homework is added up at the end of each marking period and counted as a quiz grade out of 100 points.
· Assignments will receive half-credit if it is one day late; after that, it will be a zero.
· Homework will be posted on the internet daily (link on the school website) as well as in the classroom.
· Writing assignments and projects that are late will lose 10 pts for each day they are handed in late.
